Who We Are

Topline McCrearys is a family run business in Crossroads, Killygordon, Lifford, Donegal for more than 155 years. We enjoy putting our hardware and DIY knowledge to good use every day. As you can see, we have specialists in each department who complement each other's expertise to ensure we can help you, whatever your needs.

What We Do

Whether it’s that one missing bolt you need to complete a job at home, a more efficient washing machine to cut your energy bills, a plant to add life to that dreary corner of your room, or everything you need for a full bathroom makeover - we’re proud to say we have a vast and complete range of products in store. As well as a fully stocked builders’ merchants, our retail departments include: paint, stoves, doors, bathrooms, garden, homewares, tools, and electrical appliances. We also offer useful services including delivery, key cutting, paint mixing and free quotations.

Our History

Family run for five generations, Topline McCrearys celebrated its 155th anniversary in 2015. Since first opening the doors in 1860, the store has been owned and operated by the McCreary family of Crossroads. We began as a small hardware store and builders merchants on the Main Street, where we remained until moving to a new super store 200yds down the road 2015. Our longevity can be attributed to the ongoing support of the local community and our staff’s dedication to providing exceptional advice, value and service to our valued customers.

The Local Community

The Topline McCrearys staff represents another strong link to our local community; for example our longest serving staff member is Killygordon local, Mary McMenamin, who is impressively now entering her 41st year with the company, congratulations Mary.

Becoming part of Ireland’s largest DIY/Building Materials buying group, Topline, in 1979, has been crucial to the survival and success of our business. Alongside the other 165 stores nationwide that are affiliated to the Topline group, we benefit from its bulk purchasing power, its relationship with the world’s largest independent hardware group, Ace Hardware; and from its ongoing investments in marketing, staff training, and merchandising. Collectively, these factors allow Topline McCrearys to compete effectively with domestic and international chains, like Chadwicks, Heiton Buckley, Woodies, B&Q and Homebase; and offer our customers competitive prices, better friendly service, and a welcoming shopping environment.
